We have an excellent in-house training programme and commitment to your own continuous professional development; you will need a willingness to undertake further training including some weekends and evenings.

 

You will be allocated an in-house mentor and your early years qualification training will be provided by St Helens Chamber.

Wind in the Willows Childcare Ltd is committed to Safeguarding children and families as part of this commitment you must undergo an Enhanced DBS (disclosure, Barring Service) check.

You must:

Complete all assignments given by your training provider in a time scales given.

Be a dependable member of team, working cooperatively and with flexibility

Follow instructions and the Policies and Procedures of the setting including, but not limited to The Health and Safety policies and procedures, Equality and Inclusion and Diversity, Safeguarding Children and Child Protection

Understand that each child is an individual and develop respectful and warm relationships with all the children by taking part in activities with them appropriate to their age and developmental needs and promote and value children’s experience within an anti-discriminatory framework.

Develop positive relationships with parents/ carers, other staff members and other outside agencies, ensure effective communication by taking and passing on messages, answering the door/telephone, explaining policies and practices, and keeping parents and carers fully informed about their child as appropriate.

Assist with the supervision of children at play

Assist with planning a programme of activities, suitable for the age range of the children following the guidelines of The Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage

Assist with the creation of a stimulating and attractive environment

Attend parent evenings and assist with the promotion of the nursery as required

Assist with the care and maintenance of the setting

Work as a member of the team and on your own initiative and support staff in ensuring day to day duties such as the register, diary, accident book and other records are accurately maintained.

Attend a minimum of six staff meetings per year and a minimum of six training sessions or Online Noodle Now courses as part of your personal and professional development. To be responsible for participating in all self-development activities including appraisals and supervisions

Become familiar with all emergency and security procedures i.e., fire procedures, procedures for the ‘dropping off’ and ‘collection of’ children from the nursery

 

You will be expected to:

To undertake a shared responsibility for health, safety, and cleanliness throughout all the areas of the nursery i.e., nappy changing area and food surface areas. Assume responsibility for all children in your care ensuring ambitious standards by being a positive role model, encouraging personal hygiene with the children and being observant of their general health and welfare.

Work as a member of the nursery team, showing initiative and creativity providing a safe, caring, stimulating learning environment appropriate to the needs of individual children and families, under the appropriate supervision of the senior practitioner

After three months you will be a named key person for a group of key children. This will include the following -:

  1. To be a key person who has responsibility for a group of children
  2. To observe, plan for, and assess those key children’s development
  3. Observations on those children are completed monthly using the EYLOG system
  4. To complete tracking documentation on your key group of children’s learning and development using the EYLOG system

Undertake any other duties commensurate with the post
